List of RSS News Feed for Nepali News Sites

What is RSS

Well RSS is “Really Simple Syndication”. It updates automatically and you will get the latest news. Almost all of the blogs, news sites have their rss feed. It is a great way to syndicate their content. The reader generally get the preview of the news. If the reader thinks the article/story is worthy then they click it and read it on the original site.

More detail on RSS  is written on the wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS_(file_format) and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_feed. The wiki article may be too overwhelming so CNET has a nice article about it here (http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-10088_7-5143656-1.html)

How to use RSS

There are a lot of ways to read RSS. I read my rss on “My Yahoo“, and igoogle. I dont use any external RSS Reader. I found this article on cnet which tells you about a lot of ways to read RSS. But I recommend you to use My Yahoo or igoogle. I change my home page between these two. I like both. This article on TechRepublic.com shows how to read RSS on igoogle.

List of Feed

Disclaimer: Some feeds are unofficial feeds. There is a demand for the RSS Feed from those site, but they dont have any official RSS Feed. I created those unofficial sites so that people from all over the world  can use it. I recommend you to share it. You can easily [Post to Twitter] Tweet This

New News Sources added to the Twitter Stream

Adding news articles from Nepali Times

It was another day here @mitesh_sharma and @stealth01 suggested me to add news articles from NepaliTimes. They dont have an RSS news feed for their site. @yowlanku told me that RSS means “Rastriya Samachar Samiti”. This is the one thing that I dont like about nepali news site.

The news sources want to control all the news and don’t want to share. We all know that Neta will do anything to get to power and we should know what they are doing. This is the duty of the news sources to tell what their leaders are doing.

After that I created the RSS using Yahoo Pipes and I am tweeting the news through my twitter account. Follow @ NewsFromNepal on twitter to get the latest news from http://www.nepalitimes.com.np/ too

Tweeting Falano Cartoons form Rajesh KC

Rajesh Dai is the creator of one of the most popular Falano Cartoons He has a very good site http://www.rajeshkc.com/cartoons/ . His cartoons are published in print in various newspapers. His site has RSS but RSS has no proper titles and description. So I have to add a little bit of Title and descrition. The last one till this date is on March 20 2009. I have already twitted this here.

I will post some blogs more here so stay tuned.

Getting News From Nepal via Twitter

Hungry for the news

I am hungry for news. I subscribe to a few of the news site like cnn.com or BBC news but these are the international news organization. I wanted to have news from nepal. I used to visit ekantipur.com and nepalnews.com regularly and get the news from nepal. I also listen to bbcnepali so i generally don’t go to the site and read the news. If I miss any show then I go there and listen to the site. Major News sites have RSS so i can get the news how and where i want. But ekantipur.com and nepalnews.com did not had any RSS feed.

Found Twitter

I was surfing the sites and i used the site Yahoo Alerts to get the news directly in my im. But it was annoying. I tried to get the news in email too. I also used http://alerts.google.com. But it was not helpful. Then Cha-ching  I found twitter and never looked back.

I was searching for the news on twitter and I found @cnn @bbcworld @nprpolitics @breakingnewson among many. I searched for bbc in nepali but i didnt found any. I was a little frustated. Then I found twitterfeed. It was great. Then I started creating RSS for the site and broadcasting it.

Inspiration

I am heartfrully thankful to @bibek and @jwalanta for their help in inspiring me to get this twitter broadcasting thing going on. And to all the other people who has helped me including my brother.
